However, if you don't plan what you want to say, where you want to say it and what media you will use, you have cause to worry about your business coming to a halt! With your goals, budget, competition, plans for the future, current trends and realities of the moment in mind - PLAN! Your plan must have consistency built in. You have heard it said that a person usually must see an ad seven times before it registers in the brain. Frequency and persistence are the secrets to success. You can't just flirt with the public, you must convince them. Now, you know there are people out there selling and promoting the same thing you are. Don't write the same ad, with the same headlines as they do. Be daring, original, bold and never be predictable! Flexibility and an ability to make alterations in your advertising is crucial. If you don't know how to write effective ads - find someone who does. Ask others what works. Do you not think that publishers, for example, don't know what is working out there? You bet they do. That's their business. Most will be happy to help you, especially if you have a plan to advertise with them on an ongoing basis. Build a business relationship with others and ask questions. Free ads, yes, they get your name out there however, you'll get much better results with a calculated, targeted and paid campaign. Is you business not worth the time and effort AND INVESTMENT? If not, you're wasting your time... Every media has advertisements. It's their bread and butter. If you don't like ezines with ads or seeing promotions everywhere selling ads, may I suggest that you are in the wrong business. Make a plan. Budget for it. Ask questions. Success doesn't come to those who wait - it comes to those who work!
