Preparing Your Ezine (EZine
Prep section above) -
1. Start a New Edition: Click
on this link...you will be at an input form to establish a new edition.
It is not necessary to fill in each field at this point..but the Date
is required... Fill out as much as you want at this point, however you
can edit this page an unlimited number of times. We believe the form is
pretty self explanatory...but a few things must be noted:
-Not Allowed Characters: It is very important that
you adhere to this. No dollar signs - $ - no tildes ~ and no double
quotes " are allowed. If you try to use any of these, you will get an error
message when you post your ezine, but you simply go back and change your
data.
-The Enter (Carriage return) key: Do NOT ever
use this, as you will also get an error message. If you want to put in
a break (like the enter key)..simply type in the HTML code for this <br>
before the line you want on the next line. If you want to start a new paragraph,
use the HTML code of <p> at the beginning of the line you want for the
new paragraph. Each of the text area boxes where you type in your articles
are set up for what is called "soft wrap". This means that when you reach
the end (right side) of the box...the text will automatically wrap to the
next line.
-Using HTML: If you want to change your font colors,
size and face..you can do this in each text (article) area..and you also
can use HREF statements to create links. Try anything you want..you really
can't hurt anything. If it doesn't work, just go back and try somehtign
else!
-Copy & Pasting - You must be extremely careful when
using this feature to copy text from somewhere else into any text area
(article) field. Often, the text you copy will contain an "Enter/Carriage
Return". You must remove these prior to "Submitting" your data. Do this
by using the Backspace and/or the Delete key.

2. Edit an Ezine:
Enter the date of the edition you want to edit...121401 for December 14,
2001. (you must have used a date in this format when you set up your ezine
edition.). After you enter the date in the box, click on the "Edit" button.
Now you will see a copy of your ezine..with two links at the top that read.
"Edit This Edition with color changes".
Click on this link and you will be at a form that has all your data for
the edition...update, change, delete at will.
NOTE: The color choices
must be re-selected each time you edit/update your ezine.
"Edit This Edition with NO color changes".
Click on this link and you will be at a form that has all your data for
the edition...update, change, delete at will.
NOTE: The color choices
you previously made will remain the same. If you will be editing often,
this is much easier and less time consuming to use, as you will not have
to re-select your colors each time.
-Copy & Pasting - You must be extremely careful when
using this feature to copy text from somewhere else into any text area
(article) field. Often, the text you copy will contain an "Enter/Carriage
Return". You must remove these prior to "Updating" your data. Do this by
using the Backspace and/or the Delete key.
-Admin Code - When you have finished your editing session,
scroll to the bottom of the page, type in the Admin Code that is listed
in the box...then click on "Update".

3. Uploading Images/Articles:
-Images - This feature will upload the images/photos
you will be displaying in your ezine to you rweb server.. Only .jpg, .JPG
or .gif image types will work. Try to keep your images reasonably small
in size (i.e.165 pixels wide max.). Larger images take longer to load.
Be VERY careful that the image names you upload are the same name you used
in creating your ezine. All images have the img src= of http://yourdomainname/zineimages/imagename
-Articles - This feature will upload the Rest of
the Story, etc. articles you may use in your ezine. Be VERY careful
that the article names you upload are the same name you used in creating
your ezine. All articles have the link of http://yourdomainname/zineart/articlename
HINT: These articles may be created in Word pad or Word
then saved as an .htm or .html file. If you will be keeping your e-mailed
ezine short with brief story introductions, then this a great feature to
use.
-Deleting old images/articles - You may also use the
Upload
feature to delete images or articles you no longer need. This will
free up your server space.(recommended)
