Greetings! A warm & breezy Welcome to our newest readers and a Rowdy Howdy to our regulars!
Boy-oh-boy what a week! I tell you what, realizing that this is only Wednesday, but the past 48 hours has been, let's just say, interesting. Let me tell you about it.
It all started on Monday morning. Our 2 dogs had found a nest of wild bunny babies about 12 days back. Three of the 4 babies died, but I managed to save one of them. I figured they couldn't have been any older than a day or two. I dug out an eye-dropper and began feeding every 2 hours. This little 'kitten', as they are called when born, was tiny. It's eyes and ears were still closed and it didn't have any fur on it's belly. The baby was growing quickly and I finally determined it was a girl. She was growing and I could see her learning every day. She finally was active enough that I had to find a better cage so she would be safe. I could put my hand in her cage and she would crawl into it. Her eyes opened and then slowly her eyes opened. I was curious one evening to see how she would react if I put her on the floor. She liked it, as she hopped little baby bunny hops across the floor. She continued to thrive. Monday morning I woke up as usual. My kids ate breakfast and headed to the bus stop. Time to feed the bunny. I knew when I uncovered her cage that something wasn't quite right. Offering her milk and water, she refused both. I put her in my hand, stroked her soft fur and talked to her. She knew my voice and I was hoping to comfort her and get her to eat. The little fur ball of fluff died in my hands about 10 AM Monday morning. Although I was sad, it dawned on me that if I hadn't become her surrogate mother, she would have had no chance of survival at all. We buried her Monday evening.

of those Lost
September 11, 2001
As the anniversary of 9/11 approaches, my thoughts are filled with the victims, their families and friends. The United States, as a nation mourned our dead.
The final Memorial for a New York City Firefighter was was held September 9th. Michael Paul Ragusa was only 29 years old and had been on the job for 19 months.
Dee and Vincent Ragusa, Michael's parents, had been waiting to take the step to hold a Memorial Service without remains. Michael's casket contained his uniform and a vial of blood. The vial, which was discovered last year at a bone-marrow clinic, was all the Ragusa's had to memorialize their son.
